Blockchain

Blockchain is a subcategory of technologies in which the record is structured as a chain of blocks which contain transactions and which is validated by means of a consent mechanism spread across all the nodes in the network in the case of permissionless or public blockchains, or all the nodes authorised to participate in the validation of the transactions for inclusion in the record for permissioned or private blockchains.

The main characteristics of blockchain technologies are the unchangeable nature of their records, their transparency, the traceability of their transactions and their security, based on cryptographic methods.

Obviously, blockchain lends itself to interpretation. It is not so much a technology as a paradigm, an embodiment of today’s great movement towards decentralisation and participation.

Elision makes widespread use of blockchain in its various solutions, especially to manage a product’s authenticity and for transactions involving the sale of luxury goods.
